Apple has just released iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 for iPhone and iPad – download it right now, here’s how.
iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 Updates Now Available for Download with Security Fixes Only
iPhone and iPad users can download and install a brand-new update today – iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1. It is a bug-fix release only, and according to Apple, patches a bunch of security-related issues.
This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.
In order to download and install the update right now, all you have to do is go to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone and iPad. Tap on Update Now to get the ball rolling.
Since this is a security fix update, therefore it is an extremely important one.
You do have the option to clean install the update, if you like. Start off by taking a complete backup of your device using either iCloud or Finder, and then follow the clean installation tutorial posted here.
Whether your device supports Apple Intelligence or not, iOS 18.1.1 and iPadOS 18.1.1 are available for every single device that can run iOS 18.0 and iPadOS 18.0 updates.
In all honesty, I was expecting Apple to release iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 beta 4 today. However, since version 18.1.1 was released instead, it means the security issue was far more severe.
I will be surprised if Apple isn’t going to release more iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 updates. That would simply mean the company is done testing and developing the update and can release it any time now.
Some guesswork suggests the new update will become available for download on the 9th of December. But there is a chance Apple may release the update sooner.
