According to code found in iOS 18.2, your iPhone may be able to tell how much time is remaining until the battery is full.
Code Inside iOS 18.2 Beta 2 Hints at Feature that May Show How Much Time is Remaining Until Your iPhone Battery is Full
Charging on iPhone and iPad is pretty straightforward and has been since the beginning. You plug in the cable, the battery indicator turns green, and you get no hint whether or not the device is charging rapidly or slowly.
With iOS 18.2, it seems as though things are about to change.
With code found inside the latest iOS 18.2 beta by 9to5Mac, it’s believed Apple is working on a feature that will show the user how much time is remaining until the iPhone battery is full or how much time is left until it reaches the set charge limit.
While this find may excite a lot of people, but there’s no telling if this feature will be enabled in the final version of iOS 18.2 or some other future update.
At the time of writing, only the code for such a feature exists, not the actual feature itself. So, I wouldn’t bet on its release any time soon at all. But there’s a chance Apple may enable this feature with iOS 18.2 beta 3.
It’s good to be optimistic about new things, right?
Apple really needs to work hard on how battery and charging work on iPhones and iPads. Even if you connect a fast charger to your device, iOS and iPadOS do not report whether or not the device is charging rapidly.
But, given this new framework found in iOS 18.2 beta, I’m a little hopeful that things will get better in future updates.
