The M5 MacBook Pro will be a boring upgrade. But, the M6 MacBook Pro will be a major overhaul.

2026 MacBook Pro will Have Thinner Design and OLED Display, M6 Chip Based on 2nm Process Also Included

It was believed that the M4 MacBook Pro lineup is the last of its kind, and that the M5 model will be a major redesign. Turns out, that won’t be the case.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple’s M5 model is going to be similar in terms of design with small performance upgrades. But, the M6 model is going to take things to the next level.

The new and upgraded MacBook Pro with M6 is going to be a massive upgrade, and buyers can expect a thinner design as well as an OLED display. Currently, the MacBook Pro lineup uses a Mini LED display.

The upgrade to OLED is definitely going to be a giant leap in terms of overall image quality, especially contrast levels.

Another thing worth mentioning here is the fact that the M6 chip is going to be based on Apple’s 2nm process. Interestingly, the iPhone 18 is said to use a 2nm chip as well.

The jump from 3nm (current generation of chips) to 2nm means users can expect a giant leap in performance and efficiency.

Though we don’t have an exact date when the M6 model will become available, Gurman says Apple is going to launch the new MacBook Pro models sometime in 2026. That’s quite far away, honestly.
