The RC version of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 is basically the full and final version of the software that is meant for developers and public beta testers only.
If you’ve been testing iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 beta for a few weeks now, today is the day you can download the ‘final’ version ahead of time before anyone else.
Since the RC version is here today, it’s safe to assume that the final version will be released for everyone else in a week’s time.
Provided you already have beta 4 of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 installed on your iPhone and iPad, here’s what you need to do in order to download RC today:
- Make sure your iPhone and iPad is connect to Wi-Fi.
- Also make sure you have 50% or more battery life remaining on your iPhone and iPad.
- Now, launch the Settings app and go to General > Software Update.

The download will begin instantly, and the installation will take a while. Expect around 15-20 minutes in total before you can start using your iPhone and iPad normally.
Once everything is done installing, you can experience the most stable version of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 on your iPhone and iPad. Along with that, you also get a bunch of great Apple Intelligence features too.
Those features include Image Playground, Genmoji, and of course, ChatGPT support in Siri. The last one is something I’m looking forward to and want to see how people use it in their daily lives.
However, the ChatGPT fun may not last that long because Apple is working on an advanced version of Siri already that is set for release next year as part of iOS 19 and macOS 16.
Though it doesn’t need to be said, if you do want to install iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 before anyone else, just download the public beta right now. You will find all the details about it by going to this link.
