A new report suggests that Apple’s slow rollout of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 features is affecting the development of iOS 19.

Slow Rollout of iOS 18 Features is Affecting the Development of iOS 19 and iPadOS 19

I really don’t have to point out the fact that the rollout of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 features has been slow. With the initial announcement at WWDC 2024, we still don’t have all the features Apple promised for iOS 18.

This slow rollout means developers at Apple are thoroughly engaged with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, which means iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 will see a delayed rollout of features as well, according to Mark Gurman.

Usually, at this point in time, many engineers at Apple are busy working on the next big thing, which is iOS 19 in this case, but most of them are still working on iOS 18.

In fact, we heard just a while back that Apple is working on a smarter version of Siri that will go head-to-head with ChatGPT, and that too won’t be available immediately. This means we’ll get a barebones iOS 19 release in September, and features will slowly roll out over time.

Depending on how you look at this, it’s a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.

While Apple may be slightly behind when it comes to its plans for iOS 19 and iPadOS 19, if this means the consumer will get polished features instead of rushed ones, I don’t see any problem with it.

Apple is already way behind in the AI timeline compared to the competition, and navigating these waters carefully is nothing but a smart choice at this point.

If Apple is going to play catch-up, it needs to do things absolutely right .
