Don’t want the Now Playing Live Activities widget on Apple Watch? Here’s how you can disable it right now.

How to Completely Disable the Now Playing Live Activities Widget on Apple Watch

Whenever you start playing music or a podcast on your iPhone, you’ll see the Now Playing widget for it on your Apple Watch.

Just swipe up on the Apple Watch display, and it’ll be right there at the top of the stack.

Not only that, if there’s an app running that supports Live Activities, you’ll see the widget on Apple Watch as well. This includes things like timers.

For me, it’s the most convenient thing to have around since it immediately lets you see if something important is running on your iPhone.

However, everyone might not agree with me and prefer to turn off Now Playing or Live Activities on Apple Watch. If that’s the case, here’s what you need to do on your Apple Watch:

Step 1. Press the ‘Digital Crown’ to go to the Home Screen.

Step 2. Find ‘Settings’ and open it up.

Step 3. Tap on ‘General.’

Step 4. Tap on ‘Auto-Launch.’

Step 5. Open ‘Live Activities Settings.’

Step 6. Just turn off ‘Allow Live Activities.’

But wait, are you looking to disable Live Activities for music or podcast apps only? Then instead of turning off ‘Allow Live Activities,’ scroll down a little, find ‘Media Apps’ and disable ‘Allow Live Activities’ from here.

From now on, whenever you play a media file on your iPhone, you won’t see the Now Playing widget at all.

Honestly, just keep it on. It’s a great way to control whatever it is playing on your iPhone. Pulling out your iPhone every single time just to pause music or skip a track should be an easy thing to do, and it definitely is with Live Activities turned on.
