Apple and Sony are Working to Bring PlayStation VR Controller Support to Vision Pro

Currently, the Vision Pro supports PlayStation and Xbox controllers if you want to play games from Apple Arcade.

Do keep in mind the Vision Pro is not primarily a gaming device, and if you do want to get some gaming done, a controller is a must.

According to a new report by Mark Gurman, Apple is currently working with Sony to bring PlayStation VR controller support to visionOS.

At the time of writing, there’s no telling when this support will be added to visionOS, and the report falls short of saying if this will happen as part of a visionOS 2.x update or visionOS 3.

Whenever it happens, I’m extremely glad Apple and Sony are both working on this. Just have one look at the Meta Quest 3 and you’ll start to realize how much the Vision Pro lacks in terms of gaming and physical controls.

The report also says that Apple has sold fewer than half a million units of the Vision Pro. While that number seems abysmal, do keep in mind that we’re talking about a headset that costs $3,499 without taxes.

Apple managing to sell that many headsets is not bad at all. However, will support for PlayStation VR controllers help boost that number further? Only time will tell.
