The Magic Keyboard is great, but the Smart Keyboard Folio was a far more ‘fun’ accessory for iPad.
The Smart Keyboard Folio Needs to Make a Comeback for the iPad Lineup and Make Computing Fun Again
There are two ways of using an iPad in 2024 – you either connect it to a Magic Keyboard and use it like a laptop, or you just hold the iPad in your hands and swipe away.
The Smart Keyboard Folio sat right in the middle of both. It didn’t have a trackpad, and users had to touch the iPad’s display to navigate through iPadOS.
My first real keyboard for iPad was the Smart Folio Keyboard. I had a blast using it, and it was the most non-serious keyboard accessory for iPad which is exactly why it was so good.
It did not force you to use the iPad like a real laptop, and somehow, you still did. In other words, it made the process fun.
Compared to a brand-new Magic Keyboard for iPad, the Smart Keyboard Folio wasn’t expensive either. It got you right into the world of iPadOS computing at a very low price.
I really wish the keyboard makes a dramatic return, but this time with slightly better choices of materials that are easier to clean.
And oh, how about a choice of different colors, too?
