A new report has just emerged, suggesting that the standard iPhone 17 model will definitely ship with a higher refresh rate display.

Apple is Bringing a High Refresh Rate Display to the Standard iPhone 17 Model

Though a previous report suggested that the entire iPhone 17 lineup, including iPhone 17 Slim or Air, will feature 120Hz displays, it’s better to call it a ‘high refresh rate’ display when we’re talking about the standard model.

I say this because reports coming out of the supply chain suggest, once again, that the standard iPhone 17 model will have a higher refresh rate display. The source behind the leak did not mention the refresh rate itself, so it may not be marketed as ‘ProMotion.’

However, if you look at the current and previous ‘Pro’ model iPhones, Apple markets those phones with a 120Hz ProMotion display. There is a chance that the standard iPhone 17 will just ship with a 90Hz display, or maybe go all out with 120Hz. It’s hard to say at this point.

Whatever it is that Apple is planning to do, a higher refresh rate display is coming to the entry-level flagship iPhone next year. And if we are extremely lucky, who knows Apple might just throw in the always-on display feature as well.

Rumors do suggest Apple is moving to LTPO display technology for the entire lineup, something that’s currently exclusive to the Pro models. Once that happens, we can expect features like an always-on display.
