Wondering why you can no longer buy the iPhone 14 or iPhone SE in the EU? There’s a good reason for it.

iPhone 14 and iPhone SE No Longer Being Sold in the EU Since they Don’t Have USB-C

Today is the 28th of December. This day onwards, Apple can no longer sell an iPhone in the EU that has a Lightning port.

As long as the iPhone has a USB-C port, Apple can continue to sell it. This means devices like the iPhone 14 and the iPhone SE that ship with Lightning can no longer be sold.

No matter where you live in the EU, you cannot buy a brand-new iPhone 14 or iPhone SE directly from Apple.

Luckily, if you reside in the United Kingdom, the rule does not apply since the country is not a part of the EU.

As long as there’s remaining inventory available at a physical store, you can try your luck and grab an iPhone 14 or iPhone SE. But do keep in mind that once the inventory dries out, you have to either buy an iPhone 15 or iPhone 16.

While I’m all up for USB-C, taking a cheaper iPhone option off shelves is a little harsh. The iPhone 14 is a great choice for those who want a phone but without spending flagship money.

Meanwhile, the iPhone SE is due for a refresh around March time. The new device is set to include an OLED display and will even come with Apple Intelligence.

You can also expect the new iPhone to ship with a 48-megapixel camera at the back.
