iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 are set for release soon, and their features and release date are highlighted in a new report.

New Contextually Aware Siri, New Language Support and Emoji Coming with iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 in April

Apple is about to release the final version of iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 this week. Currently, said updates are available to developers and public beta testers as RC.

When the update has rolled out to everyone, Apple plans to release the first beta of iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 to developers and beta testers.

Thanks to a report by Mark Gurman, we can finally get a glimpse into what we can expect from these updates and what the release time frame is.

First and foremost, Siri is getting a massive overhaul. This includes the ability to get to understand personal context, will have on-screen awareness, and can even tap into apps.

The last one is important because this means the assistant will be able to launch actions from an app for you. Currently, it can’t do that.

Apple Intelligence is going to expand language support as well, and will include Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and a lot more.

Last but not least, the update is going to include new emojis. This includes fingerprint, harp, root vegetable, leafless tree, and shovel, just to name a few.

Given Genmoji exists, I’m not sure how these new emojis are going to be useful for those who own devices with Apple Intelligence. But hey, it’s always nice to have more than not at all.

Apple plans to release this update in April, which means we are going to be treated to a lot of betas before the final update is released for everyone.

While all of this is great news, do keep in mind Siri is not going to receive a massive knowledge boost overnight. You can expect that to happen with the release of iOS 19 and beyond.
