The entire iPhone 17 lineup is rumored to get a vapor chamber heatsink for a massive improvement in thermal performance.
iPhone 17 Lineup Will Offer Improved Thermal Performance with the Introduction of a Vapor Chamber Heatsink
If you’ve used an iPhone 15 Pro, then you already know how hot the phone gets. However, with iPhone 16, Apple improved things a little by changing the design of the heatsink.
But, that design change is still not enough, and there’s still room for improvement.
According to news by MyDrivers, the entire iPhone 17 lineup – iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max – is set to receive a massive upgrade in thermal performance.
Apple apparently plans to do this by introducing a vapor chamber heatsink in the new iPhones. What this means is that the iPhone will be able to sustain performance for longer without getting too hot.
Do keep in mind this technology is not new at all and has been used in Android phones for a while now, especially gaming phones that rely on sustained performance a lot.
Given the move to a vapor chamber heatsink, it seems as though Apple is set to give the iPhone 17 lineup a big leap forward in performance, or someone at Cupertino doesn’t like shipping hot phones anymore.
One of the most recent reports suggests that the iPhone 17 Air is going to be ridiculously thin – just 5.5mm at its thinnest point. If Apple has managed to put a vapor chamber heatsink in that phone as well, it’s truly amazing.
