Looks like Apple is skipping the M3 chip entirely, as the company plans to launch the M4 iPad Air this spring.

Apple is Skipping the M3 Chip Entirely and May Upgrade the iPad Air to M4 this Spring

An iPad Air upgrade has been in the rumor mill for quite some time now. According to Bloomberg, the tablet could be refreshed this Spring.

This is not just an ordinary refresh because it will feature Apple’s latest M4 chip. This means Apple plans to skip the M3 chip entirely for iPad Air.

This is going to be a mighty upgrade for iPad Air, as it will bring the tablet extremely close to the iPad Pro in terms of performance.

Whether or not Apple will use the exact same chip as one found in iPad Pro is anyone’s guess, but the fact that it is ultimately the ‘M4’ and not something else should have everyone excited.

Another thing which we can expect in the M4 iPad Air is the custom 5G modem from Apple. It’s said to be included in the upcoming iPhone SE and future Apple devices as well.

In terms of design, the iPad Air will likely retain its current form factor and the two screen sizes it comes in. I believe that’s a smart move as it will allow users to keep on using their favorite accessories even if they plan to upgrade to the M4 model.

For most users, the iPad Air is more than enough when it comes to features. With the M4 upgrade incoming, you’ll be able to do pretty much everything on the iPad Air without paying a premium.

However, in typical Apple fashion, there is definitely going to be something left out that ensures you go for the iPad Pro and not the iPad Air with the same chip.
