A new report sheds light on the OLED MacBook Air and says it has been delayed by a huge margin, once again.

OLED MacBook Air Delayed till 2029, Decision Based on Buyers Not Upgrading to OLED iPad Pro

We’ve been hearing about the MacBook Air with OLED display for quite some time now. However, said MacBook Air has been reportedly delayed over and over again.

The notebook was originally set for release sometime in 2026, then a report said it would be released after 2027, and now a report from TheElec says that the notebook is now delayed until 2029.

The reason why Apple made this decision is actually quite interesting.

Apple recently gave the iPad Pro lineup the OLED upgrade, and the response from buyers hasn’t been that good. In other words, an OLED display isn’t a huge driver in sales.

For that reason, Apple deems it fit to keep the MacBook Air with an OLED display out of the picture for a while.

The thing is, when Apple gave the iPad Pro an OLED display, it jacked up the price as well. The 11-inch model now starts at $999. It used to start at $799.

You really think OLED is the culprit here?

Apart from that, an iPad isn’t something people upgrade every single year like an iPhone. They have a very good shelf life, and it’s hard to convince someone to shell out money whenever a new model comes out.

I’m sure Apple has done its homework before taking this decision. But I’m not buying into the reason given at all.
