Beta 1 of tvOS 18.4 is now available for download if you are a developer and happen to have an Apple TV.
tvOS 18.4 Beta 1 Now Available for Download with Bug Fixes and Other Small Changes
If you find tvOS beta updates fun, then today is your lucky day as the first developer beta of tvOS 18.4 is now available for download.
Make sure you’re signed up to the Apple Developer Program, and then all you have to do is enable developer beta updates by going to Settings > System > Software Updates > Get Beta Updates and then choose tvOS 18 Developer Beta.
Once you’ve done this, you’ll find the latest tvOS 18.4 beta available for download from the Update Software section of Software Updates.
Whether you should or should not install the update is entirely up to you. I will recommend against it unless you’re testing something out, as you cannot downgrade back to a public version of tvOS once you go ahead with the update.
Given where tvOS 18 stands at the moment, it’s better not to expect anything new from the software at this point in time, in terms of features.
But do expect bug fixes and other under-the-hood changes, which are equally useful.
Call me old-fashioned, but I would rather have extremely stable and fast software than new features.
However, if there is something new in this update that is worth pointing out, I’ll definitely do it.
