Today I will show you how to re-center Spotlight Search on your Mac if you accidentally moved it somewhere else.
Accidentally Moved Spotlight Search Box on Mac and Want to Re-Center it? Here’s What You Need to Do
The biggest innovation arrived on the Mac when Apple announced that you can now move Spotlight Search wherever you like. Previously, it would sit in the center of the display, and you couldn’t move it anywhere.
If you didn’t know this, just press Command+Space on your Mac keyboard, and drag the search box around. You’ll feel invincible doing that.
However, while Apple did a fine job implementing the most obvious thing in the world. But what if you want Spotlight Search back in the center of the display?
The Globe+Control+C shortcut keys don’t work. Sure, you can try to manually re-center the search box, but that doesn’t quite work either.
Thankfully, there is a solution for this, and Apple hasn’t made it obvious.
Step 1. Launch Spotlight Search by pressing the Command+Space shortcut keys, or click on the magnifying glass button in the menu bar on the top right.
Step 2. Move the Spotlight Search box around manually so that isn’t centered anymore.
Step 3. Now click and hold on the magnifying glass button in the menu bar for a few seconds. The Spotlight Search box will instantly return to its original position.

Sometimes, when you land on a solution, you think that it makes sense. But in this case, you will never see it coming.
Anyway, you now know how to bring Spotlight Search back to its original position. If you ever move it around, you know exactly what to do. No need to restart your Mac or manually adjust its position anymore.
