Well, I have a few thoughts on the iPhone 16e, and it’s the perfect time to write things down since a couple of days have passed.

A Low Priced iPhone isn’t Supposed to Do Everything an Expensive One Can

Going through X and Threads in the last couple of days, I noticed an interesting opinion from diehard Apple fans – the iPhone 16e sucks.

Most of this comes from people who either own the iPhone Pro or Pro Max. Of course, it sucks, because it’s not for you. Apple is not asking Pro users to buy it, it’s an entirely different ballgame.

Every single entry-level product is supposed to feel like a downgrade if you’re comparing it with a slightly better one. It boggles my mind how people are finding this hard to believe.

I can namedrop at least ten smartphones that aren’t good, including recent iPhone models. However, those phones are top purchases among people who want something that works. And those people don’t care about fancy features nor bother to use them even if it ships with the product, such as MagSafe.

An average user doesn’t care about stuff sticking to the back of your phone using magnets. And those who do use it religiously day in, day out cannot become a voice for those who aren’t bothered with it.

You do you, charge away using that USB-C or Lightning cable all you want.

Secondly, if Apple shipped the iPhone 16e with every single feature, then what’s the point of having the iPhone 16? There’s a reason why multiple iPhones exist. You pay more to get a better iPhone and that option is available to everyone as long as your budget allows it.

The iPhone 16e is for people who walk into a store and say they want an iPhone with a great display, fantastic camera, long battery life, and runs the latest apps and games.

Surprisingly, that iPhone is the iPhone 16e, not the iPhone 16, not the iPhone 16 Pro, unless the specifically ask for a better iPhone.

Compared to the iPhone SE, which Apple was selling until a couple of days ago, consumers are finally getting a better and modern product from the get-go.
