All set for announcement this week, the upcoming iPhone SE, or iPhone 16E, has me really excited.

Apple is Getting Rid of a Relic this Week and Giving People the Base iPhone Everyone Wants for a Long Time

One look at the entire iPhone pricing spectrum, and you start to see that the entry-level iPhone is not worth a penny in 2025.

With its subpar display, Home button, Lightning connector, and okay-ish cameras, the iPhone SE pales in comparison to the countless Androids you can find at the $429 price point.

With iPhone SE 4, Apple is hoping to turn things around.

Rather than just bait you into spending more money and buy the iPhone 16 instead, Apple wants everyone to know that its entry-level iPhone is now worth a look. It’s not a relic from the past and stands tall with the rest of the flagship lineup.

Given the reports from the past few months, it’s safe to call the iPhone SE the ‘base iPhone.’ You get all the fundamentals of the flagship, and it’s up to you if you want something extra like a wider camera, or maybe a LiDAR scanner.

If the new iPhone SE is something you can easily recommend to someone who hasn’t used an iPhone before, it’s a big win. And I see that happening, especially in emerging markets and those who are looking to buy their first iPhone.

Apple says it’s going to announce something new this Wednesday and it’s safe to assume it’s the iPhone.

It’s going to be an exciting week!
