Apple now allows users to migrate their purchases from one Apple Account to another. But the process is not that easy.
Here’s How to Migrate Your Apple Account Purchases to Another Account in Just a Few Steps
A lot of people have two Apple Accounts – one is primary and the other is secondary. The secondary one is usually used for App Store purchases, subscribing to services, and more.
However, if you do decide to migrate the purchases you’ve made using your secondary account to the primary one, Apple now lets you do that. Basically, Apple allows you to migrate purchases between Apple Accounts.
While the process itself is extremely simple, the conditions might just keep you from moving your purchases to another account. For example, both the primary and secondary accounts should be from the same region and country.
I’m sure many users have a secondary account from a different country in order to access certain features.
Apple has an entire support document highlighting everything you need to do in order to migrate your purchases. You can check it out by going here.
If you fulfill each and every single requirement, then follow the steps below:
Note: Apple says this feature is currently isn’t available in the UK, EU or India.
Step 1. Launch the Settings app and tap on your name at the top of the page.
Step 2. Tap on Media & Purchases and then tap on View Account. You will be required to enter your Apple Account password for this.
Step 3. Just scroll down a little and you’ll see the Migrate Purchases option. Tap on it.
Step 4. Review everything and follow the steps for migration. If everything was successful, you’ll see a ‘Purchases Have Been Migrated’ confirmation as well as an email on both your primary and secondary Apple Accounts.
Step 5. Sign out of the secondary account from Media & Purchases and sign in with the Apple Account (your primary one) to which you moved your purchases.
Again, the process isn’t for everyone, especially if your secondary account is from a different country. But if you have two accounts from the same country or region and always wanted to unify things, you know exactly what you have to do.
The question is: should you do it? If everything is working just fine for you, then I wouldn’t recommend changing a thing. It’s not like Apple is forcing you to do it just yet. Hopefully, it will remain like that in the future too.
