Chances are high you’ve forgotten what Control Center looked like in iOS 11 on iPad. A time when there wasn’t even iPadOS.

iOS 11 Merged Multitasking and Control Center into a Single View on iPad, Apple Should Bring it Back

Control Center and multitasking have nothing to do with each other in the latest iPadOS updates. But at one point in time, they were one.

In iOS 11, when you swiped up from the bottom of the display to go into multitasking view, you would also see the Control Center on the right.

If a single gesture can get two things done at the same time, it saves you a ton of time. And clearly, that’s what Apple went for.

I’ll just go ahead and say it; Apple’s implementation at the time was the best and it doesn’t even compare to what we have currently.

At this point, many users are accustomed to having Control Center and multitasking completely separate from each other. But hey, Apple, give me the option to merge them.

We have a powerful Control Center system in place with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, and if multitasking joins it in a single view, I’m quite certain it will give productivity a massive boost.

Fun fact: iOS 11 was the first operating system for iPhone and iPad that allowed you to customize the toggle switches in Control Center.
