A new report says Apple considered making the iPhone 17 Air completely wireless and portless for 2025..

Apple Almost Made a Portless iPhone this Year with iPhone 17 Air, but it’s Slowly Getting there

A completely portless and wireless iPhone may ultimately happen, but it’s not happening this year, at least.

According to Bloomberg, Apple considered making the iPhone 17 Air completely portless and larger. However, some concerns popped up that forced Apple to take a different route.

Apple wanted to make an iPhone 17 Air that had a larger 6.9-inch display and was even thinner than what’s rumored now. But that would have been risky, as the smartphone would be prone to bending.

Another idea Apple pondered was completely removing the USB-C port. That too didn’t happen over concerns from regulatory authorities in the EU.

Ultimately, Apple reached a compromise and is going ahead with the form factor we’ve been hearing about for a long time. That includes a 6.6-6.7-inch display, a body that is 5.5mm thin, and of course, USB-C.

We keep on hearing about a completely portless and wireless iPhone for a long time, but it seems as though we got really close to it this year.

But, who knows Apple might just go ahead with its plan this year anyway, right? It doesn’t hurt to daydream.
