This lawsuit was definitely coming. Apple is being sued over the delayed Siri features that were part of Apple Intelligence.
Delayed Siri Features Land Apple in Hot Waters, First Lawsuit Filed Over False Advertising
Apple did a solid advertising campaign for the new iPhone 16, highlighting the new and advanced capabilities of Siri. But that version of Siri has been delayed, and we have no idea when exactly it will roll out.
According to the lawsuit filed in San Jose, California, Apple created a false expectation of a product using a feature that didn’t exist and it also used that feature to drive sales, according to Axios.
I’m not surprised that this lawsuit happened. Apple did break a promise and the company definitely saw this one coming.
Apple really did create a false impression when it comes to Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. When the iPhone 16 lineup was launched, none of the smartphones had Apple Intelligence in any form or way. It came later with a software update.
It’s easy to say random words to upsell you on a product, but when you miss a target, it really comes back at you.
Apple has a lot of mess to clean up with Siri, and it needs more than a change of leadership at this point.
What bothers me the most is how Apple made great strides with Apple Intelligence, and yet the weakest link – Siri – remains untouched and unrefined to this minute.
