A camera makes a lot of sense on Apple Watch; however, the way Apple wants to do this is very, very different.

Apple Wants to Bring Visual Intelligence to Apple Watch by Adding Cameras to it

The moment someone says ‘camera on Apple Watch,’ you immediately think about FaceTime. But here, that’s not the case at all.

Instead, according to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is working on multiple Apple Watch models with a built-in cameras, but they’re not for FaceTime. These cameras will power Visual Intelligence features.

Depending on which model we’re talking about, the camera position is going to be different. The Apple Watch Series will have a camera on the screen, while the Ultra will have the camera right next to the Digital Crown.

Using Visual Intelligence, users will be able to get information on the fly without having to pull the iPhone out of their pocket. Getting information about products, locations around you, and more can easily be handled by Apple Watch.

Another interesting thing is how Apple plans to add cameras to the AirPods as well in the future. Again, most likely for AI features and Visual Intelligence.

Given the amount of cameras Apple is planning to add to ‘wearables’ like these, the company really, really wants to power your life with AI rather than just rely on a chatbot to work your way out of problems.

There’s no word on when these devices will launch. But given how seriously Apple has suddenly gotten when it comes to AI, a launch within the next couple of years is likely.
