Facebook has announced that it is ‘fixing’ its iPhone app with a brand-new Friends tab with updates from friends and family only.

New Friends Tab will Take Facebook Back to its Roots and Make Connecting with Friends and Family Easier

Facebook used to be a fantastic experience when it launched. Everything was in chronological order, you got your friends and family updates in a simple timeline. Life was great.

Over time, recommended content was thrown into the mix, and that’s the reason I stopped using the social network regularly. In fact, apart from posting updates for my website, I don’t use it at all.

The thing is, I want to see updates from my friends and family, not a video of an influencer munching on a burger or suddenly a meme out of nowhere.

Facebook has announced that it is launching a new Friends tab that will show exactly what you should – updates from friends and family only.

A Friends tab already exists in the Facebook app, but it’s meant to show you requests and recommendations. It’s not a timeline. But it will be since this change has been announced.

If you’ve used the original Facebook app from back in the day, this is exactly what it was all about: no recommended stuff at all. Just you, your family, all in a nicely done timeline.

You have no idea how happy this change makes me. I always wanted to use Facebook regularly from my iPhone and iPad in recent times. But I wanted to do so without fighting with the social network.

This definitely changes everything for the better.
