Apple’s upcoming folding iPhone will have a large internal display with same aspect ratio as an iPad display.

Internal Display on Apple’s Folding iPhone will have Aspect Ratio Similar to iPad and that’s Great News

News of a folding iPhone is starting to pick up a lot of heat. From the device having no crease at all to costing more than $2,000, we have plenty of information to go around.

And more keeps on coming.

Today, leaker from Weibo called Digital Chat Station has jumped in with some information regarding the folding iPhone, and they say the internal display will have an aspect ratio that matches the iPad.

In case you’re wondering what that aspect ratio is, it’s 4:3. It’s the best aspect ratio for use on a tablet since it does not look hilarious when being used in portrait mode.

Basically, Apple is not going for a square internal display at all, or anything similar that’s already on the market, and that’s a wonderful thing.

The thing is, the 4:3 aspect ratio, or anything close to it, is perfect for consuming content like video since the letterbox effect isn’t as bad. Just pick up a Galaxy Fold right now and play a video on the internal display, and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

It’s great to see Apple is going to get the internal display absolutely right, provided this leak is true.

According to previous leaks, the internal display will be 7.8 inches across. That’s an inch less than an iPad mini but bigger than the largest iPhone Apple sells, the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
