Photos app now loops video by default on iPhone and iPad. However, you can disable this feature. Here’s what you need to do.

Stop Videos from Looping in Photos App on Your iPhone and iPad by Simply Turning off One Toggle Switch

Whenever you play a video in the Photos app in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, you might have noticed that it doesn’t end. It just plays from the beginning over and over again – or in other words, it loops.

This has to be one of the best features I’ve seen in the Photos app in a long time. This comes in handy when you pass your iPhone or iPad to a bunch of people and want them to check out a video.

Instead of fighting with the on-screen controls, just let the video loop until everyone gets to see the video properly.

However, some people don’t like this feature at all. Thankfully, you can turn it off. Once done, videos will play a single time, and you have to manually play them from the beginning after they end.

Here’s what you have to do:

Step 1. Launch the Settings app.

Step 2. Scroll all the way down and tap on Apps.

Step 3. Now find Photos and tap on it to open.

Step 4. Scroll down and you’ll see a Loop Videos toggle switch. Just turn it off.

Though this feature is useful, it may end up being annoying, especially at times when you want to know exactly where the video ends.

Just imagine holding your iPhone or iPad for a straight minute, only to realize it was just a 10-second clip. You may want to turn off this feature if you don’t want to see yourself in that situation again.
