Instagram Rolls Out New Feature for iPhone – Play Reels at Twice the Speed
The last five minutes before going to bed turn into an hour of scrolling through Reels on Instagram. It’s absolutely normal, and I totally get it.
Sometimes the content is really that good. Almost like the algorithm knows exactly what you want and keeps you hooked.
Now, you can consume more Reels in less amount of time because Instagram allows you to play them at 2x the speed.
That’s right, folks. You can play Instagram Reels at twice the speed, which means you can get twice the memes in before calling it a day.
How it Works
No matter which Reel you’re currently playing, just tap and hold on the left side of the display and it will start playing at twice the speed.
You’ll notice the on-screen buttons and other information disappear when the Reel is playing faster. And of course, you’ll see ‘2x speed’ written on the bottom of the display.
Wrap Up
This feature is wonderful for Reels that are up to 3 minutes in length. Instead of just skipping through it using the slider at the bottom, just press and hold on the left side of the display and waltz through.
I like my content at human pace. I know a lot of people who listen to podcasts and watch YouTube videos at high speed, but I can’t do it at all.
I really love content at its original pace because it feels more relatable. Anything slightly faster feels machine generated.
