Let me show you how you can send photos and images in low quality over iMessage on iPhone and iPad to save data and storage.

Tired of iMessage Eating Away Your Data or Slow Transfer Speeds? You Can Lower the Image Quality and Remedy All of it

Say what you want about iMessage, but it’s the best way to share high-quality photos with friends and family members using iPhone and iPad.

While that is definitely a great feature to have, it can be a curse. Because whenever you send that photo, it is going to use up a ton of data.

Not only that, it will eat away at your iCloud storage as well if you have Messages in iCloud enabled.

Thankfully, your iPhone and iPad have a built-in feature that, when enabled, will send photos in slightly lower quality. Apart from the usual saving data and storage advantage, a lower quality image will be sent out quicker too.

Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1. Launch the Settings app.

Step 2. Scroll all the way down and tap on Apps.

Step 3. Find Messages and tap on it to open.

Step 4. Now scroll all the way down and you’ll see a Low Quality Image Mode toggle switch. Simply enable it.

You can test out the change immediately by sending a photo or image to someone using iMessage. You’ll notice how it’s close to full quality yet takes up less time to send.

If you live in an area where the internet is generally slow, I will recommend turning on that toggle switch.
