A recently surfaced leak says Apple’s entire iPhone 17 lineup will include MagSafe, unlike the iPhone 16e.
Latest Leak Suggests the iPhone 17 Air will Include MagSafe and Won’t Take the iPhone 16e Route
It’s not uncommon for Apple to remove features from iPhones. For example, 3D Touch was completely removed with a new iPhone release, and a software update removed it from iPhones that had the hardware for it.
It was one of the wildest moves ever.
Recently, the iPhone 16e was revealed to the world without MagSafe, another eyebrow-raising feat from Apple. This made everyone believe Apple may be getting ready to axe the feature from iPhones in the future.
The most obvious starting point would be the iPhone 17 Air, which is going to be a very slim phone to begin with. After all, the phone is going to be razor-thin at just 5.5mm, therefore fitting magnets in so little space will cause some trouble, right?
A recent leak by Sonny Dickson showed that every iPhone 17 model will include MagSafe, including the ridiculously thin iPhone 17 Air.
Today, a new leak by Digital Chat Station has surfaced, and the account says the entire iPhone 17 lineup will include MagSafe. Given the good track record of this account, it’s best to take this news at face value.
Not shipping the feature on a very cheap iPhone makes perfect sense, because you can’t have everything at the lowest price. But removing it from a flagship model might be a stretch.
I really wish this leak stands true till the last second, as a lot of people are well invested in the MagSafe ecosystem, including myself. Losing the feature overnight is going to be a huge miss.
