Apple is going to release the M5 MacBook Pro this year, but the big overhaul is set for 2026, which will include the M6 chip.

MacBook Pro Set for Major Overhaul in 2026 with M6 Chip, Apple to Announce M5 Model Later this Year

The M4 MacBook Pro has been with us for just a few months, and talk of the next one is picking up pace.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is going to announce the new MacBook Pro with M5 at the same time it did the M4 and M3 models. This means we’ll see the refresh in October of this year.

However, this upgrade will only bring the M5 chip to the existing notebook design, nothing else.

Interestingly, all of these details have been mentioned in an older report by Bloomberg.

The report goes on to say that Apple will launch an overhauled MacBook Pro in 2026, and it will ship with the M6 chip. There are no extra details mentioned in the report regarding the notebook’s design or changes.

However, previous reports do say the upcoming MacBook Pro overhaul is going to bring OLED display to the notebook and, hopefully, a thinner design.

The MacBook Pro is definitely due for a major overhaul. The current design has been with us since the M1 Pro days. Though there’s nothing wrong with it, it is starting to look a little dated.
