A more conversational version of Siri, like ChatGPT, rumored to arrive with iOS 19, is facing severe delays.

iOS 20 Will Likely Introduce the Rumored Conversational Siri Upgrade, May Not Ship with iOS 19

Siri is as barebones as it gets when it comes to being an assistant. All of that was set to change with iOS 19, in which Apple was expected to announce a more conversational version of the assistant.

However, that assistant was slated for release next year as part of iOS 19.4. But according to a report by Bloomberg, that might not happen.

See, the conversational Siri is still coming, but it’s seeing delays within the company; therefore, it may not ship with iOS 19. Instead, it may get delayed until iOS 20.

There is a chance Apple may not talk about the overhauled Siri at WWDC 2025 at all.

However, that doesn’t mean Siri won’t be seeing any sort of improvement at all. We can expect the assistant to get upgrades in areas that will allow it to process more complicated queries, just not like ChatGPT.

Do keep in mind that the Siri I’m talking about right now has nothing to do with the one Apple is set to release as part of iOS 18.5, which was originally supposed to be a part of iOS 18.4.

Again, delays all around.

At the time of writing, Apple Intelligence uses ChatGPT as a crutch to do a lot of things. I’m surprised Apple has made it this far despite so many delays. But still, Apple is making meaningful progress towards something bigger.
