A new leak clearly shows how Apple plans to use a part-glass and part-metal back on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

iPhone 17 Pro Won’t have a Full Glass Back, It will be Partially Aluminum and Glass Instead

After going through several reports online, I’m going to try and make this as simple as possible so that everyone can understand what’s going on.

Apple is rumored to switch from titanium to aluminum with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Secondly, different reports suggest these smartphones are going to use a combination of glass and metal, something Apple already does.

However, things are going to be different with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Rather than going with a full glass back, Apple is going with a mix of glass and aluminum instead. You can actually see this change by newly leaked images by Sonny Dickson.

If you look at the image below, you’ll notice a rectangular cutout around the Apple logo and MagSafe area. This area is glass, allowing wireless charging to happen. Everything else around it is aluminum.

While this change might not seem like much, it will ensure structural integrity while keeping wireless charging capabilities in place. In short, this is exactly what the iPhone needs to be stronger than ever.

I see this change in a very interesting way. If Apple is enforcing this much ‘toughness’ into the Pro model, this adds more fuel to the iPhone 17 Ultra rumor.
