Apple has announced an upgraded version of the Mac Studio, and it is now available with M3 Ultra and M4 Max chips.
Apple’s Latest Mac Studio Offers Crazy Upgrades with up to 512GB of RAM, 32-Core CPU, 80-Core GPU, Thunderbolt 5 and More
The Mac Studio is a computer meant for professionals. If you need absolutely insane levels of performance in a compact form-factor, it’s the Mac Studio, not the Mac mini.
Today, Apple is dialing the Mac Studio up to 11 with extremely powerful upgrades, thanks to the M3 Ultra and M4 Max chips.
Mac Studio with M4 Max
The M4 Max model is definitely a huge step up from what Apple was offering previously. You get up to a 16-core CPU, up to a 40-core GPU, up to 128GB of RAM, a 16-core Neural Engine, and up to 546GB/s memory bandwidth.
Mac Studio with M3 Ultra
This is where things get super crazy. The M3 Ultra offers up to a 32-core CPU, up to an 80-core GPU, up to 512GB of RAM, a 32-core Neural Engine, and up to 819GB/s memory bandwidth.
Quite frankly, I don’t know who this is for. But whoever gets it, please use all that power wisely.
Apple says the new M3 Ultra is up to 2.6x faster than the Mac Studio with M1 Ultra which is a massive leap forward.
Thunderbolt 5 and Insane External Display Support

Thunderbolt 5 delivers up to 120Gbps speeds when connecting accessories to the Mac Studio. With that amount of bandwidth, you can expand the ports of your Mac Studio without losing any performance at all.
But that’s not the fun part. Apple says the new Mac Studio with Thunderbolt 5 can drive up to eight Pro Display XDR displays at the same time in full 6K resolution on each monitor.
I’m not even going to say a single word after that.
Pricing and Availability
Mac Studio starts at $1,999 with M4 Max. It is available for pre-order today and will be available in stores starting March 12.
