I’m not sure if this is good news, but the Vision Pro creator is now in charge of Siri, according to a new report.

Siri Chief John Giannandrea has been Replaced by Vision Pro Creator Mike Rockwell to Fix Things up

Siri is certainly not seeing its best days, and the mess is all over the place. From delayed rollouts to the inability to answer basic questions, the assistant needs a revamp.

According to Bloomberg, Apple’s current AI chief, John Giannandrea, has been replaced by Mike Rockwell to oversee Siri. Reportedly, Tim Cook has lost confidence in John and his product development for Siri.

This isn’t the first executive shakeup in recent times. Kim Vorrath was brought in just a while back to fix Apple Intelligence and Siri, and the latest move of replacing John Giannandrea is part of that ongoing process.

Given the shakeup at Apple, I have confidence that the company is going to make things right. At this point, it’s better for Apple to take its time and get Siri right before bringing it to people in its more advanced and “personalized” form.

I see this as Apple’s MobileMe moment, where a product exists yet it doesn’t do what it’s advertised to. Everything is in its place, but it needs fresh leadership to get things on track.

But the big question is: how long will it actually take? Will Apple be able to roll the new Siri out with iOS 19? Or should we dial our hopes down and aim for iOS 20 instead?
