Apple is working on a pair of AR smart glasses and it is an extremely high priority product for CEO Tim Cook.
CEO Tim Cook is Taking AR Glasses Seriously, Makes it Apple’s Top Priority
According to a report published by Bloomberg, Apple is hard at work on a pair of augmented reality glasses. This is not new and previous reports have talked about this from time to time.
But for Apple CEO Tim Cook, it’s an extremely high priority product.
The report goes on to say that CEO Tim Cook doesn’t ‘care about anything else’ and wants the glasses to be a reality as soon as possible.
It’s understandable why Apple is going down this route, given how well Meta has done in the space with its non-AR glasses in collaboration with Ray-Ban, and the recently-announced Project Orion glasses aims to take things to the next level.
While Project Orion is far away from becoming a consumer product, and eventually it will, it must have ruffled a lot of feathers over at Apple.
The funny thing is, the Ray-Ban glasses aren’t even AR. They’re just cameras with Meta AI on them, nothing else. That too has managed to do extremely well for Meta.
However, despite being Apple’s top priority, the AR glasses are still years away, according to the report. The thing is, the technology that is needed to run the whole thing is just not perfect at this point in time and requires a lot of research and work.
A device which you can wear with transparent displays and all-day battery life definitely needs a lot of care and attention.
