Apple has released a new firmware update – 7E101 – for the AirPods Max with support for lossless playback.

Apple Pulls Previous 7E99 Update for AirPods Max with Lossless Support, 7E101 Now Available for Download

On Monday, Apple released a firmware update for the AirPods Max with USB-C that brought the promised lossless playback support to the headphones.

However, due to some issues, Apple had to pull the update completely.

Today, Apple has issued a new firmware update for the AirPods Max with version number 7E101, up from the previous 7E99.

Hopefully, this update won’t be pulled like the last one and will stick around for a while so that people can actually experience lossless playback.

If you want to install the update on your AirPods Max right now, just follow the tutorial posted here.

While the above method definitely yields good results, it’s not the best way to download AirPods updates. If Apple decides to pull an update, the user will never know about it.

It would have been better if Apple delivered these updates through the Software Update section of an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. That way, people would actually know something new is available.

But Apple does have a way to tell users if there’s a new update available, and it involves visiting its website. You’ll find all the details about it here.
