iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 are great updates when you consider the new Ambient Music feature. However, your HomePod and HomePod mini has been doing a similar thing for a long time.
The feature is called Ambient Sounds, and it turns your HomePod into a white noise machine.
How this feature is different from Ambient Music is pretty obvious.
Ambient Music plays relaxing and focusing music tracks, while Ambient Sounds plays sounds from nature, such as rain, ocean, a flowing water stream, and more.
But of course, it’s not limited to sounds from nature. It also has built-in white noise, sounds from a fireplace, and more.
In order to access these sounds, just say ‘Hey Siri, play…’ followed by: rain, stream, white noise, fireplace, forest, night, ocean.
If you want to be surprised, just say ‘Hey Siri, play ambient sounds.’
