The existence of TikTok has put Meta and its services in a tight position. However, to stay competitive in the social space, Instagram has decided to work on a dedicated app for iPad, according to The Information.
The point of this app to drive usage up and get people hooked to the social network more than ever. Funny thing is, Instagram has been dismissing the idea for a long time – 15 years to be exact.
While the news sounds great, but I will not hold my breath for it one bit.
I will only believe in this news once I hear it straight from Meta itself, and so far the company has given everyone nothing but excuses.
Currently, you can use Instagram on iPad, but it’s just the iPhone app blown up on the big screen. It’s not a good experience at all, and it’s just better if you use it on a smartphone.
Any smartphone, to be honest.
If the app does turn into a reality, it will be interesting to see if it offers the full suite of features from its iPhone counterpart, or limits itself in some key areas.
There’s no mention of when this app will be released, and I won’t be surprised if it never ever materializes. But hey, it’s news, right?
I just hope it’s true.
