A report floating around says Apple’s upcoming update – watchOS 12 – will bring Apple Intelligence to Apple Watch.
Apple’s Upcoming watchOS 12 Update will Get the visionOS-Style Redesign too, According to One Report
Not just Apple Intelligence, but the watchOS 12 update will also feature VisionOS-style redesigned interface as well, according to The Verifier.
So far, we’ve heard tons of news regarding iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and its big UI redesign. But nothing concrete from watchOS end.
However, I will suggest taking this report with a grain of salt since we have no solid evidence of this claim, yet.
Assuming this report is true, this means Apple is working towards a very consistent user-experience across all devices. While this does sound great in theory, but I have some thoughts on it.
The thing is, the moment someone says iOS, iPadOS, or macOS, you already know what you are going to deal with in terms of design. Making everything consistent means Apple is going to make all devices… boring.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Apple knows what it’s doing and will make it work too. But imagine too much consistency for a second. Picture your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch have the exact same UI, just bigger or smaller.
Lastly, while Apple Intelligence support on Apple Watch sounds like a bit of a stretch, I’m not sure how it will work on your wrist. Writing Tools? No one is typing that much on Apple Watch. Image Playground? Don’t think so. Genmoji? Maybe.
Who knows? Apple might have figured this one out, and I’m just giving it a hard time.
