WhatsApp now lets you transcribe voice messages on iPhone. Here’s how you can enable the feature right now.

WhatsApp Users on iPhone Can Now Transcribe Voice Messages Instantly – Everything Happens On-Device too

Sending a voice message makes a lot of sense in some cases, and they’re personal, too. However, you can’t always listen to them.

For times when you are in a place where listening to the message is not an option, WhatsApp now allows you to transcribe an entire voice message so that you can read it instead.

If it’s an urgent voice message, this feature ensures that you get to read its contents in its entirety and take action accordingly.

The feature is slowly rolling out to users around the globe on iPhone, and it has been in beta for many months now. If you want to enable the feature, here’s what you have to do:

Note: For this to work, you must have Hey Siri enabled on your iPhone. In order to do that, just go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Talk & Type to Siri and enable the feature from here.

Step 1. Launch ‘WhatsApp.’

Step 2. Tap on ‘Settings’ at the bottom right corner.

Step 3. Now tap on ‘Chats.’

Step 4. Now tap on ‘Voice message transcripts.’ From here you can turn the feature on or off and select the languages you want to transcribe.

Step 5. Whenever a new voice message comes in, just tap and hold on the message and then tap on ‘Transcribe.’

Do keep in mind that languages are limited at this time, and this feature will slowly progress as we move into the future.

Also, Meta says that all the transcription happens on-device, which means everything stays safe and secure.

It’s one of those features that makes perfect sense. You don’t have privacy all the time, and sometimes you forget your earphones at home. Just tap a button, and your entire voice message is transcribed instantly.

Meta is really making good strides when it comes to its services. It was only yesterday that the official Facebook Messenger app received video and audio voicemail support.
