You can now download and install visionOS 2.2 RC for your Vision Pro over the air.
visionOS 2.2 RC Now Available for Download with Ultra-Wide Mode When Using Mac Virtual Display
Apple has just released the RC version of visionOS 2.2 for Vision Pro users around the world. If you are a developer, you can go right ahead and install it onto your headset.
If you have been testing the beta for quite some time now, here’s what you have to do in order to download visionOS 2.2 RC:
- Launch the ‘Settings’ app.
- Go to ‘General,’ then ‘Software Update.’
- Download the latest RC update from here when it shows up.
The installation may take a while, and I will suggest plugging in your Vision Pro headset to a power outlet throughout the duration of the installation. Once everything is complete, you can enjoy the final version of visionOS 2.2 on your headset.
I say it’s the final version because it actually is, just meant for developers before it’s released to the public sometime next week.
The new update for Vision Pro adds an extremely important feature that allows you to use your headset as a virtual display for your Mac in ultra-wide mode. This is an insanely great feature, especially if you want to take productivity to the next level.
Apart from the above feature, you can expect a bunch of bug fixes and other under-the-hood improvements as well.
Remember, visionOS 2.2 is not available to public beta testers at all. It’s only available for developers. The full and final version should become available for everyone starting next week.
I will not suggest attempting alternate routes to attempt and install the update in any way. Just wait a few days, and the update will be rolled out to everyone.
