Apple is Investigating Bringing Cellular Connectivity to the Mac and Vision Pro, But it May Not Happen Before 2026
Bloomberg reported that Apple is going to bring its 5G modem to the iPhone as early as 2025. However, there’s another piece of information that has me excited.
Apple is ‘investigating’ the idea of bringing cellular connectivity to the Mac and Vision Pro, according to a new report by Bloomberg.
Currently, Apple sells the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch with cellular connectivity. It makes perfect sense that it should bring cellular connectivity to the Mac as well, including the Vision Pro.
Imagine a Mac that does not require any hotspot connectivity at all to get online. You just open the lid up and start working instantly. The same goes for the Vision Pro.
While this is great news and it should have everyone excited, don’t expect this to happen before 2026. This is when Apple will have a proper 5G modem out that supports faster mmWave speeds and connectivity.
I always say that one should buy an iPad with cellular. It’s the iPad to buy since it keeps you connected all the time, and you don’t ever have to worry about hunting for Wi-Fi.
A Mac with built-in cellular connectivity is going to make a lot of lives easier around the globe.
I really, really wish Apple cracks the 5G modem code sooner rather than later and makes this happen. I’ve been waiting for a Mac with built-in cellular connectivity for many years.
