One thing is clear: the iPhone 17 Slim is going to be ridiculously thin compared to the iPhone 16 Pro – around 2mm thinner.

iPhone 17 Slim (or Air) is Going to be Around 6.25mm Thick, Will be Apple’s Slimmest iPhone to Ever

Pick up any modern iPhone, and it’s safe to assume it’s an extremely thin device. However, Apple’s thinnest iPhone has been (so far) the iPhone 6.

According to Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Slim is going to be the thinnest iPhone to date, and it will be around 2mm thinner than the current iPhone 16 Pro.

To give you an idea of how thin that’s going to be, the iPhone 16 Pro is 8.25mm thick. That’s not bad for a smartphone at all, given the amount of features it packs.

The iPhone 6 was 6.9mm. Definitely way thinner compared to the latest iPhone 16 Pro.

But, if the iPhone 17 Slim is a full 2mm thinner compared to iPhone 16 Pro, that makes Apple’s upcoming smartphone just 6.25mm thick.

That’s absolutely stunning.

If you can find an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s nearby, just pick it up and you’ll know how thin those devices are. Going even thinner with such powerful hardware and upgrades is going to be wild.

Reports do suggest that Apple is having a hard time making the iPhone that thin. Sacrifices in terms of the SIM card slot are going to be made in order to achieve that thinness. The new iPhone might not even have a speaker at the bottom.

The phone is said to be powered by Apple’s new A18 chip, while it is going to be the second phone in Apple’s lineup to feature its in-house 5G modem, with the first one being the iPhone SE 4.
