New Apple TV and HomePod devices are coming in 2025, and a report says Apple is going to ship them with its own wireless chips.

Apple’s Bringing its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Chip to Apple TV and HomePod mini in 2025, iPhone, iPad and Mac to Follow Soon After

Apple is slowly and gradually moving away from third-party manufacturers when it comes to certain things.

For example, it’s been rumored for quite some time that Apple is working on its own 5G modem, and the first device to use it is going to be the 2025 iPhone SE.

However, that’s not all. Apple is said to be working on a wireless chip that includes both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well.

And if the latest report from Bloomberg is anything to go by, the new 2025 Apple TV and HomePod mini are set to become the first devices to use that wireless chip with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Internally, this chip is being called Proxima, and TSMC, Apple’s long standing manufacturing partner, is said to manufacture these wireless chips.

Bloomberg says that Apple is going to start using its own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips in iPhone in 2025 as well, and we can expect it to appear in iPad and Mac in 2026.

If everything goes to plan, it’s going to be a fast rollout. But it remains to be seen if Apple is going to bring its wireless chip to high-end devices immediately or start with devices like the base iPad and iPhone.

When it comes to wireless performance, I’m sure Apple is going to be spot on with its own chips. Just have a look at how the AirPort Extreme works even in 2024 – it’s mind-boggling.

If Apple manages to spill the same sauce on its wireless chips, Apple’s devices are definitely going to see a huge improvement in reliability.

But, the thing I’m looking forward to is the return of Apple’s AirPort router. Come on, Apple. Make it happen!
