Apple is set to launch the M5 iPad Pro this year with little to no design changes. It will only be a spec bump.

Apple to Launch the iPad Pro this Year with M5 Chip with Little to No Design Changes

It’s no secret that Apple treats iPad Pro differently when it comes to upgrades. Rather than upgrading it every year, Apple takes up to 18 months to deliver a refreshed model.

According to a report by TheElec, a new iPad Pro is definitely coming this year, but it won’t feature any design changes. It’s only going to be an internal spec bump.

In plain and simple words, if you bought yourself the M4 iPad Pro, just keep it with you for another year. However, if you have an old iPad that needs replacing, then you may find the upgrade compelling.

The new iPad Pro will most likely get the M5 chip, which will definitely give it a performance boost, but it may not be that much compared to the M4 chip.

Another thing worth mentioning here is this – the upgrade will likely arrive at the end of this year, if not earlier.

The report mentions that LX Semicon is going to supply display drivers for Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro lineup, and this part will hit mass production around April or May.

A previous report did mention that the iPad Pro will go into mass production in the second half of 2025; therefore, a launch later this year is highly likely, unless a last minute hiccup pushes it into 2026.

Anything is possible.

While the report is exciting, the current M4 iPad Pro isn’t doing wonders for Apple in terms of sales, despite the big OLED upgrade. But I firmly believe the price is the issue here.

In one generation, the price of the base-model iPad Pro went from $799 to $999. Sure, you do get the tandem OLED display and bigger base storage, but first-time buyers will feel the financial heat.
