You can now download and install the final iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 update for iPhone and iPad devices.

iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 Now Available for Download with Loads of Bug Fixes and Other Under-the-Hood Improvements

The wait is finally over, and everyone with a compatible iPhone and iPad can go ahead and download iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 final updates.

Here’s everything that is new:

Visual intelligence with Camera Control (All iPhone 16 models)

  • Add an event to Calendar from a poster or flyer
  • Easily identify plants and animals

Notification summaries (All iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max)

  • Easily manage settings for notification summaries from the Lock Screen
  • Updated style for summarized notifications better distinguishes them from other notifications by using italicized text as well as the glyph
  • Notification summaries for News & Entertainment apps are temporarily unavailable, and users who opt-in will see them again when the feature becomes available

This update includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Calculator repeats the last mathematical operation when you tap the equals sign again
  • Fixes an issue where the keyboard might disappear when initiating a typed Siri request
  • Resolves an issue where audio playback continues until the song ends even after closing Apple Music

In order to initiate the download over the air, just follow these simple steps:

  • Make sure you have 50% or more battery.
  • Launch the Settings app.
  • Tap on General and then open Software Update.
  • When iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 show up, tap on Update Now.

The update will first download onto your device, and then the installation will begin. Your iPhone and iPad will restart to complete the installation.

Though the version number suggests that iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 are massive updates, they primarily focus on bugs and improving performance.

However, you do get minor changes with the update, such as changes to Notification Summary. Apple has temporarily disabled summaries for news and entertainment apps.

Those who own the iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro get an update in the Visual Intelligence department. Your iPhone camera can now identify plants and animals.

Not only that, you can just point your camera at a flyer or a poster and add events straight to the Calendar app.

To wrap things up, this update also includes the brand-new Unity Rhythm wallpapers for iPhone and iPad.

If you’re looking to clean install iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3, you can do that as well. Follow my tutorial posted here for it.

I see no reason why you wouldn’t want to update your device from iOS 18.2.1 or iPadOS 18.2.1. Being on the latest software update has a load of advantages, and it ensures that your favorite features work flawlessly all the time.

Do keep in mind Apple is going to release iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 soon, which rounds off the remaining Apple Intelligence features it announced last year.

The upcoming update will finally give Siri new superpowers, allowing it to understand personal context and even take in-app actions.

A bunch of new emojis are coming to the iPhone and iPad with the new update. But I don’t see the point of it since Genmoji now exists, and you can literally create an emoji in which a dinosaur is eating pizza.

Before we indulge too much in iOS 18.4 or iPadOS 18.4, make sure you update your devices to iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 first.
