Genmoji is now available on the Mac with macOS 15.3 Sequoia update – here’s how to set it up and use it right now.
macOS 15.3 Sequoia Brings Genmoji to the Mac, Let’s Set it up and Use it
Genmoji is a great way to create custom emojis using the power of AI, or Apple Intelligence, in this case.
The feature was only available for iPhone and iPad so far. Today, it is available on the Mac with the release of the macOS 15.3 update.
I’m going to show you how you can use this feature and start sending some fantastic custom Genmoji in no time.
Download and Install macOS 15.3
There’s no going forward without installing macOS 15.3. Make sure you launch System Settings, click on General, then go to Software Update. When the update shows up, download and install it.
It goes without saying that you do need a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence. This is basically every single Mac that has Apple silicon inside.
Enable Apple Intelligence on Your Mac
Once macOS 15.3 is done installing, you need to enable Apple Intelligence on your Mac. You will find the complete tutorial posted here.
Apple Intelligence will take a while to fully enable on your Mac. You will receive a notification when it is ready for use.
Setup and Use Genmoji
Step 1. Launch the Messages app.
Step 2. Open any conversation thread and then click on the emoji button on the right side of the text box or press the Globe button on your keyboard.
Step 3. When the emoji picker shows up, you’ll see a text box at the top. Right next to it is a button with a + sign on it. Click that button.
Step 4. Click on Continue when you see the screen like the one below:
Step 5. Start describing an emoji and use it however you like.
Remember folks, Genmoji is not limited to iMessage only. Press that Globe key, start describing your Genmoji, and use it in any app you like.
If you’re using a messaging app apart from Messages, the Genmoji will be sent as a sticker or an image.
Again, you can use it however you please.
