iOS 18.2.1 and iPadOS 18.2.1 signing status has changed, and you can no longer downgrade from iOS 18.3 or iPadOS 18.3 on iPhone and iPad.
Apple Stops Signing iOS 18.2.1 and iPadOS 18.2.1, Downgrade from iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 No Longer Possible
That was pretty fast – Apple is no longer signing iOS 18.2.1 and iPadOS 18.2.1 firmware for iPhone and iPad.
What this means is pretty straightforward: you can no longer downgrade your iPhone or iPad if they are running iOS 18.3 or iPadOS 18.3.
If you follow the tutorial posted here, the downgrade process will simply fail; therefore, do not invest the time or effort into it.
Downgrading an iPhone or iPad used to be a thing back in the day. The one reason why you’d want to downgrade was jailbreaking. Now that it is no longer a thing on the latest iPhones and iPads, therefore downgrading has become pointless.
As someone who has been jailbreaking his iPhone and iPad for years, I never recommend doing it at all anymore. iOS and iPadOS are way too feature-packed, there’s no need to go through the trouble of jailbreaking.
Sure, you might have your reasons, and probably good ones too. But leaving your iPhone and iPad exposed to outside attacks by gaining root access is not a good idea.
I simply recommend installing the latest updates from Apple, as they promise to keep your online presence safe and secure. That’s worth more than anything else in this day and age.
Do keep in mind that it is absolutely normal for Apple to stop signing older firmware. That’s how it goes – Apple releases a new software update, and it stops signing the older one after a short while.
Sometimes the older firmware is signed for weeks, and sometimes just for mere days.
