A brand new report says that the Apple M5 chip has gone into mass production and we should start seeing it in products later this year.

The Apple M5 is Going into Mass Production, Will Start Making its Way into iPads and Macs Later this Year

The M4 rollout isn’t complete, and we are yet to see products like the M4 MacBook Air. This doesn’t mean, in any way, that Apple hasn’t started working on the next big thing.

The big thing here is the M5 chip, which is set for release in future iPad and Mac models. And according to ETNews, the chip went through the packaging phase last month and is set for mass production.

As ever, TSMC is going to manufacture these chips, and initially the base model M5 chip will hit the production line. That’s how it goes every single year.

But, you are probably wondering when we will start seeing iPads and Macs with M5, right? That’s a great question, especially given the rollout of M4 isn’t complete.

We should see the first iPad or Mac being released with M5 later this year. This rollout will definitely spill into 2026 as well.

There is something interesting to note here – Apple is going to stick with TSMC’s 3nm process for the M5. The chip will definitely be faster compared to the M4 even though the latter is based on the 3nm process as well.

However, TSMC is currently offering manufacturing on 2nm, but for some reason, Apple is sticking with 3nm. I’m sure Apple is just waiting for the cost to come down before making the leap.

Interestingly, the M5 chip has been in the news for quite some time now. Even the next iPad Pro is rumored to feature the next-generation chip while keeping the same thin design.

In fact, the M5 Mac release timeline was reported a while back too. It gives us a good glimpse at what to expect this year and the next one.

The upgraded Vision Pro is also expected to feature the new M5 chip, and it is rumored for release later this year.

Tons of products to look forward to later this year, and things will get exciting in all product categories.
