The iPad lineup absolutely owns the tablet market, and second place is not even close to what Apple shipped this quarter.
Latest Numbers Show How Apple is Winning in the Tablet Market with iPad
Canalys has shared a report in which it highlighted an interesting figure: in Q4 of 2024, Apple shipped 16.9 million iPads and captured 42.3% of the market share.
Interestingly, Samsung was in second place, and you expect them to be, because they make fine products; there’s no pretending there at all.
But, despite being in second place, they shipped only 7 million tablets, making up 17.8% of the market share.
Now, the thing is, there was a time when Apple was blamed for going nowhere with its iPad lineup. This happened when the company launched the 12.9-inch iPad Pro for the first time, back in 2015.
Suddenly, Apple turned its slump around with accessories like the Magic Keyboard and a rebrand of iOS to iPadOS.
Today, the word iPad is synonymous with tablet. You either buy an iPad, or you made a wrong choice.
Another thing to note here is how the M4 iPad Pro didn’t do as well as Apple had hoped for either. Turns out, users don’t want to spend top dollar on an iPad with an OLED display.
Even then the iPad is a top choice among tablet buyers.
To wrap things up, Apple shipped 57 million iPads in all of 2024, making up 38.6% of the market share.
It’s wild how Apple managed to get this far despite not having a clear vision of whether we should use the iPad as a computer or a tablet.
The company wants you to decide how you want to use iPad instead.
